Job Description Job Description Job Summary: Program Advisors in the Graduation Plus Department serve in various capacities, drawing on each person's unique talents. The general responsibilities of the position include academic and career advising to students in grades 9-12 and current members of our Collegians Program through school visits, as well as working with club members on activities at designated target schools and clubs in Milwaukee. Program Advisors are also expected to assist in planning and implementing diplomas 2 degrees programming and provide presentations at high school and college workshops. Program Advisors should be familiar with the college admissions and financial aid process. This position works an untraditional work schedule. Evening work is required 2 to 3 days per week, occasional weekend work is required, and occasional overnight travel is required. Responsibilities: Case manages program scholars from various grade levels, high schools, and colleges. Provides support to the Club sites with outcome goals and objectives based on the needs of members, families, and the community. Create and present workshop topics on college access and success, careers, and financial literacy. Planning of tutorial services, educational planning, assistance with college and financial aid applications, and other services required to meet the goals and objectives of the department. Establishes and maintains a rapport with Club staff and parents. Provide written documentation of program implementation and evaluation. Track member participation in assigned program areas and document the results and progress of members in various data systems (Co-Pilot, Kaleidoscope, Excel Spreadsheets) Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as requested. Adhere to all program reporting deadlines. Create and expose youth to programs and opportunities that prepare them to create an individualized post-secondary plan. Provide direct support and guidance to youth as they develop individual goals and plans. Assists with programming, workshop facilitation, and student activities. Provides guidance and direction to members in academic success, healthy lifestyles, and civic and community engagement. Assists with programs, projects, and special events. Encourages emotional, social, and educational growth of individual members. Recruits and chaperones members in special field trips and outings for our members Must participate in required training by the Club, County, State, and funder. Participates in continuing education opportunities. Other duties as assigned by the leadership team within the Graduation Plus College Access & Success Services Department Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in education, Leadership, Social Work, or other related field by the time of hire Experience Requirements: At least one year of college access and success programming implementation At least one year in facilitating or managing student financial aid applications and renewals; and processes, understanding, and administering of financial aid award letters, financial aid verifications, and scholarship distribution. At least one year of facilitating the college admissions process, including, but not limited to, the college application process, college acceptance/rejection/waitlist process, and the process of helping students understand college “fit”. CPR Certification (Adult, Child, and Infant) preferred or attend and complete certification within the first six months of employment. Skills: Data management Ability to present to small/large groups. Creativity in workshop development related to critical areas of academic skills and college prep, ability to relate well to school staff, Enjoys working with high school and college-age scholars. Demonstrated examples of working with youth Program development and small group implementation Highly organized with attention to detail Ability to relate effectively with a diverse population. Good communication skills, both written and oral Must have a valid WI driver's license, good driving record, and meet state-required automobile insurance minimums. Must have reliable transportation. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (8:00 am - 5:00 pm) and Tuesday and Thursday (12:00 pm - 8:00 pm).
