Description Summer Sports & Recreation Coordinator Boys & Girls Club of Portage County – Stevens Point, WI No nights, no weekends. Club hours 730am-53opm Monday -Friday Perfect for college students or teachers who love sports, fitness, and working with youth! Do you have tons of energy, love being active, and enjoy working with kids and teens? Spend your summer making an impact as a Sports & Recreation Coordinator ! This is a great opportunity for college students studying education, recreation, kinesiology, sports management, physical education, psychology, youth development—or anyone who loves sports and wants meaningful leadership experience. You’ll plan activities, lead games, run sports leagues, and help create a fun, safe environment for youth grades 1–12. What You’ll Do As the Sports & Recreation Coordinator, you’ll bring physical activity, teamwork, and positive competition to life at the Club: Program Leadership Plan, organize, and lead a variety of sports, fitness, and recreation activities Encourage youth to participate and stay engaged Create a safe, clean, and positive environment in the gym and recreation spaces Work independently and collaborate with a supportive team Youth Development Supervise and guide youth in both structured and unstructured play Support behavior management using Club guidance strategies Serve as a positive mentor and role model Build strong relationships and help youth develop confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship Program Management Implement program goals, policies, and standards Monitor program quality and adjust activities based on the interests and needs of members Train and support volunteers Maintain all sports equipment, supplies, and program areas Submit biweekly activity schedules Communicate supply needs in advance and respond promptly to emails Assist in organizing and running youth sports leagues Ensure Triple Play programming stays fresh, exciting, and aligned with national requirements Help plan and support Club?wide special events Additional Responsibilities Purchase supplies with supervisor approval Actively participate in recruitment for sports leagues, special events, and programs Engage in member recruitment through schools and community events Be able to keep up physically with members during games and activities Drive the Club van if needed (training provided) Support additional duties as assigned by leadership ? Qualifications Ability to be trained in First Aid/CPR Degree or currently pursuing a degree in Physical Education (or related field) Prior experience working with children (preferred but not required) Able to communicate effectively with children and families from diverse backgrounds Courteous, professional, and team?oriented Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior challenges Comfortable working with the general public Able to organize and supervise youth safely Must pass a reference check and background check ???
