This advanced Applications Engineering position is to support all sales teams of the company. Work is primarily involved with the facilitation of equipment sales to customers or modifying a product or system design to fit a customer need. - Individuals at this level work with minimal supervision and support other less-experienced Applications Engineers (AE) and sales team members, and have a broad range of project assignments. - Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains expert level of product knowledge and can apply this understanding to provide unique and custom solutions. Projects may be of a more complex nature and/or larger scope than standard systems.
  • Determine system requirements for the preparation of detailed bid proposals, including detailed RFQ packages. Proposal deliverables include custom system solutions, specifications, equipment selection, process layout, 2D drawings and pricing.
  • Provide training and mentoring for new and less-experienced AE's within the company, to include support during complex projects and customer discussions.
  • Coordinates AE team continuous improvement projects and team performance metrics.
  • Performs and leads customer trials and service troubleshooting calls related to validation, startup and maintenance of equipment to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Supports troubleshooting efforts of other AE members for resolving customer complaints and warranty issues in a fair and equitable manner to both the company and the customer.
  • This is a very hands-on position that includes travel to customer sites to perform plant audits, system design solutions, technical review meetings and equipment trials.
  • Capable of leading professional customer discussions with and without Sales Manager involvement throughout any stage of the sales process.
  • Demonstrates industry expertise and advanced process understanding in one or more focus areas of the company.
  • Provide international team AE support when required for complex projects and workload balancing.
  • Provides design and specification inputs to support the business development team throughout the product development process.
  • Supports Business Development Engineer role within commercial market initiatives and other marketing and sales needs.
  • Draft technical papers to support new applications. Attend and present at conferences and industry meetings. - Qualifications:
    • Demonstrated communication skills for direct customer contact and leading technical discussions.
    • Proficiency in topics and calculations in the field of Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, and Fluid Dynamics.
    • Process engineering experience with the ability to interpret and develop custom P&IDs, with an understanding of reading architectural, mechanical and electrical diagrams.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for providing a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
    • Capable of working on multiple projects at once.
      • Understanding of PLC logic, PID loop tuning and process data analysis.
      • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or other similar 2D drawing programs.
      • Familiarity with Infor CRM, SalesLogix, Salesforce or similar customer relationship management (CRM) software. - Preferred Education and Experience:
        • BS Engineering degree; preference in Chemical or Mechanical (Electrical or other equivalent degrees considered). Preferred MS Engineering or other advanced degree.
        • 5+ years experience in Applications/Sales Engineering in a relevant field of steam injection, fluids, or heating technologies. Additional education or related experience considered in lieu of direct experience.
