Professional Transit Management of Waukesha is actively seeking qualified and experienced Diesel Fleet Mechanics at its Waukesha, WI location to diagnose and repair vehicles and equipment, with daily safety inspections, under general supervision.

  Responsibilities:
  
  
  • Performs transit vehicle maintenance that are compliant with Waukesha Metro standards
  • Inspects, diagnoses, services and/or repairs all assigned transit vehicles and related mechanical equipment
  • Ensures accurate upgrades and/or modifications on bus systems, road calls, and on-the-road repairs as needed
  • Other duties as required
    Qualifications:
    Qualifications:
    
    
    • Must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma, GED or equivalent
    • Maintenance experience with all types of heavy duty transit equipment
    • Diesel Mechanic: 2 years' experience preferred
    • Automotive gas engine mechanics are encouraged to apply!
    • Commercial Driving License with passenger and airbrake endorsements
    • We will assist you in obtaining your Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications and we offer bonuses to obtain these certifications
    • Excellent communication skills with ability to read, interpret safety documents, blue prints, schematics and other mechanical diagrams.
    • Ability to pass a DOT physical examination, including a background and a drug test

      • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
      • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; reach with hands or arms; and talk or hear.
      • Required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; and smell.
      • Occasionally required to lift up to 75 pounds.
      • Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold and in a damp environment with moderate noise.
      • May be exposed to water, fumes, and chemicals.

        • 95% of work is accomplished in a garage in varying temperatures, weather, and humidity conditions.
        • 5% of work may be accomplished in doors and in air conditioned or a well-ventilated facility.
        • Frequently stands and walks; walks for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; ability to lift or handle material weighing up to 50 lbs. with assistance; ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch; and corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication.
        • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
        • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
        • Must be able to travel for company training, meeting or support missions.
