Job Description Job Description SUMMARY The Life Cycle Engineering Manager leads a team of engineers and technicians in the support of production through the product life cycle. This team is responsible for implementing customer driven changes as well as proactively addressing supply chain issues, such as EOL components. This individual interacts with a variety of departments including Project Management, Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Sustaining Engineering, Sourcing, Account Management and Sales to ensure life cycle projects are launched and completed on schedule. The position requires strong project management, functional analysis, process improvement and people management skills. E SSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Leadership – Provides leadership in the following areas: Provide leadership and coaching to all staff members Allocate team resources on a dynamic basis to meet customer deliverables and/or internal needs Provide an escalation point within Engineering Oversee the life cycle management processes followed by the company, recommend improvements in those practices and implement approved changes Participation in Product Phase gates Collaborate with Product Marketing in defining product life cycle for published road maps Work directly with project management, account management, customers and suppliers on the identification and resolution of project/product issues Define life cycle project plans and report on project performance Provide support for customer complaints/escalations, and corrective/preventive actions Lead all personnel in Life Cycle Engineering; Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of this department; Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws Managerial responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring, training and developing associates; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching associates; and addressing complaints / resolving problems Represent the company for Regional Presence and other outreach engagements as needed Process Review and Improvement: Utilize various quality improvement tools (FMEA, SPC…) to identify and mitigate potential quality issues Plan and lead the implementation of continuous improvement projects through statistical analysis, process capability and root cause analysis Drive continuous improvement projects to closure and lead the alignment of KPIs Team Building: Build a quality team that is strong, responsive to the needs of the organization and is successful based on established measurements Establish and maintain high/professional morale throughout the group while still meeting all performance objectives Work closely with internal teams to deliver on customer commitments Develop a staff that embodies the values and beliefs of the organization and is successful QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Required: Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Engineering - Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, or other applicable discipline) 8 years of experience in an ISO based manufacturing facility Proven track record of problem solving, communication and team building skills Knowledge and experience with Lean/Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement Previous leadership experience and a solid track record of strategic project management (creating a plan, building a team, assigning work, and assuring timely completion) Proven experience driving organizational change and following through to completion (use of process flow diagrams, swim lanes, and other tools; leading cross-functional teams; establishing buy-in; and following through with creation and release of appropriate process, procedure, and training documentation) Preferred: Knowledge of ISO standards Familiarity with FDA constraints for Medical and Healthcare driven customers, or other highly regulated industries Experience working in an ESD-regulated environment PMP Certification PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
