The Vice President of Engineering is responsible for various
aspects of the company's engineering product development
activities. The Vice President of Engineering will focus on the
structuring and operation of the product development engineering
function as a cohesive unit; the conceptualizing and day-to-day
management of simultaneous projects; developing systems and
controls to ensure compliance with company, industry and regulatory
compliance; delivering quality designs to agreed specifications
within time and budget constraints, and the fostering of innovative
solutions to customer needs. This position will need to work
cooperatively across all levels and business groups of the
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
50% --- Directs the work of the functional area. Selects, coaches
and develops the team, setting objectives that align with company
strategy to inspire and motivate the team. Manages organizational
talent through performance management, succession planning and
development. Designs and directs processes by which team and
individual performance are recognized, feedback is consistently
delivered and performance is systematically improved.
--- Engage in and lead business planning processes, recruitment,
retention, talent acquisition, development, and mentoring.
--- Create and maintain an organizational culture which encourages
innovation, collaboration, excitement/commitment and a sense of
urgency toward goals, and continuous improvement.
--- Challenge team members to question the status quo and ensure
that all aspects of the applicable processes are optimal for the
business groups and product design.
--- Establish the vision and strategy to drive world class
excellence within global engineering teams. Drive results that are
specifically targeted to the customer base. Leads process with
corporate planning and new product development teams.
--- Work directly with all Business Groups and leaders in
developing solutions that target specific customers' needs and
growth opportunities in the marketplace.
--- Foster collaboration between engineering, sales, operations,
finance, and other departments to identify and harvest new
engineering concepts, technologies, techniques, standards and

--- Develop strategic planning for the direction and control of
product development activities.
--- Ensure the optimal application of technology and engineering
resources to meet company product expectations for revenue

completion within budget and time frame.
--- Stay current with industry trends, ensuring that the company
maintains and expands its technology leadership position.
--- Motivate staff and provide technical direction and guidance, as
well as hands-on project management, recognizing the role as that
of both manager and support resource / mentor.
--- Assure that product is designed for specific needs, but with
wider applications in mind.
--- Ensure implementation and refinement as required of formal
process to support the product development process.
--- Ensure that product development is focused on meeting and
exceeding the customer requirements.
--- Provides engineering expertise in the areas of tooling, prints,
specifications, product maintenance, raw materials and vended
products throughout the organization.
--- Ensures current and accurate costing (including specials) in
conjunction with finance.
Other Duties as assigned and the following:
--- Manages engineering budget.
--- Supporting the development of the Company's product roadmap
--- Manage and ensure regulatory compliance.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical
--- Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering
--- Minimum of 20 years of engineering experience in industrial /
commercial products environment;
--- Minimum of 10 years management experience in product or
application development and engineering;
--- Minimum of 5 years of experience with global product support
--- Master's Degree or PhD in Engineering or Business
--- Experience in Value Engineering
--- Experience in high growth organization
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
--- Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on
multiple global projects simultaneously, balancing resources,
timing and quality of outcomes with customer satisfaction;
--- Demonstrated team building and leadership skills;
--- Solid understanding of engineering technical issues/needs,
financial, sales, and marketing as related to product

Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the
employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to
manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required
to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to
stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must
occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job
include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work
requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust
focus. Up to 50% travel and valid Driver's License required.
