JOB REQUIREMENTS: Req #: 53931 Job Summary: The Director, Product Management - Global Portables will have primary responsibility for developing and maintaining product line strategy through multiple product portfolios that enable the division to grow sales, gain market share and improve profitability within the product lines. S/he will understand end-user needs and pain points and closely monitor developments in the market and among Generac Power Systems, Inc. competitors, and identify opportunities to accelerate growth. S/he will be the bridge between the market and product development process. This includes but is not limited to: specification of new development projects, participation in ongoing projects, and initiation of market studies. Additionally, this role will lead a team of Product Managers and Product Specialists, while supporting the existing product portfolios, and working closely with internal and external partners to develop innovative solutions for the future. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee the annual and long-term strategic plans for the Global Portable Generator Category by setting objectives, leveraging consumer insights, and allocating resources across the portfolio/marketing mix. Establish best-in-class product solutions to market needs while ensuring adherence to global brand communication strategy/positioning. Establish the product line 'Playbook' and obtain senior management approval for each product line. The 'Playbook' becomes the guidelines for what products and positioning are acceptable for sales to sell into each our Generac's sales channel Global platform owner of Portable Generator product category Manage overall product lifecycle, including phase in/out timing and product/platform rationalization decisions. Owner of multi-year strategic plan and execution. Develop a multi-year plan driving revenue and market share targets for product lines and categories. Includes establishment of cost targets to support pricing and margin needs. Research market needs, identify product gaps and initiate new product development programs Develop business cases for new product development programs Maintains the competitive product database and uses this as an input to establish multi-year product development roadmaps Establish strategy, vision, goals, and positioning for each product category to achieve annually including financial performance targets Create product and programs to increase our value to end users. Create and maintain a communication and tracking mechanism with our sales team, both direct and rep to achieve our goals for new products Work closely with sales to insure new product launches are successful and achieve the established business case objectives Monitor industry trends that will impact product requirements Interfacing with end users and participating in industry events in order to understand and develop opportunities for innovative solutions Research customer product requirements, competitive offerings, and product gaps to determine market needs for new products. Define product requirements and translate customer needs into engineering specifications. Interface with engineering to understand critical global intellectual property landscape as it relates to product categories Development of differentiated product line positioning across multiple and overlapping product channels Develop multi-year product development roadmaps for each product category. Master's degree preferred; Minimum of 10 years of work experience in product management, marketing, engineering and/or brand management; including managing a team. Experience owning and managing a 'consumer insights' process to define consumer product strategy Experience with a variety of marketing channels including; retail distribution, independent dealers and 2-step distribution. Acumen and ability to understand technical product lines. Experience managing a multi-brand product portfolio with overlapping channel requirements. Strong interpersonal skills including; ability to distill and present complex concepts into clear and 'to the point' presentations, strong collaborator, and ability to lead cross functional teams. Demonstrated track record of driving product line growth, in both domestic and international markets. Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.
