We Are Hiring: Medical Assistant Scholarship Opportunity - ProHealth Medical Group Begin your story with ProHealth Care with a scholarship for education in the Medical Assistant field. ProHealth employees and their families are invited to apply for a fully paid scholarship to become certified medical assistants with programs beginning May and July 2022. Medical assistants are at the heart of health care, helping to ensure quality patient care while supporting other medical staff members with their administrative and medical duties. The rigorous, eight to ten-month program is conducted in partnership with Purdue Global and Herzing University. Clinical training is provided at ProHealth Medical Group facilities. All non-clinical coursework takes place online, allowing you the flexibility you need to maintain work-life balance. Medical Assistants who are accepted into this program will be hired into the clinic, as a Medical Assistant I (Student MA) where they will work upon graduation from the program. This is where the onsite cinical training will also take place. Apply today to learn more about this opportunity! Responsibilities Efficiently prepares exam room in advance of patient placement. Set out proper equipment and or supplies specific to the examination.Periodically review exam rooms to ensure sufficient stock of supplies, materials and instrumentsRoom patients and obtain vital signs, request and record health history, prepare patient for Provider exam and document results in to the electronic medical record (EMR).Ensure accurate and timely documentation into the EMR or other patient records indicated for all patient care, i.e. phone notes, lab results, vital signs, treatments, test results, patient history.After each patient visit, follows clean room protocol in preparation for the next patient.Prepares sterile field and assists physician with procedures using sterile techniques. Prepares equipment for send out and follows protocols to properly store equipment.Answers and makes patient phone calls in accordance with patients HIPAA instructions. Obtain medical information for the Provider and field questions appropriately based on Provider directed protocols. Report test results to patients under the direction of the Provider.Call pharmacy for prescription verification if needed. Investigate patient needs for required medication prior authorization.Provide Provider directed patient follow-up instructions.Assists in the control and maintenance of supplies, equipment and patient education materials. Report low quantities. Calibrate equipment to meet quality control standards, report and label malfunctioning equipment.Assists with splinting, casting or orthopedic appliance fitting. Prepares the patient for application and ensures education and proper instruction in the use and care of appliance of splint/cast.Respond to urgent and emergent situations. call for appropriate clinical assistance according to physician directed protocol. Inform leadership of the situation.Assist patients in the scheduling of diagnostic tests, outpatient services and hospital admissions. Provide patient with information regarding preparations for the service and necessary registration.Provide patient reception and scheduling assistance as needed.Inventory the Crash Cart when assigned.Seek experiences, formal and independent learning activities to maintain and develop clinical skills and knowledge.Adhere to all Department and ProHealth Care policies and procedures. What You Will Do: The Medical Assistant in Training (MA I) is a Medical Assistant who performs basic duties of the Medical Assistant without technical training. They provide direct care to patients under the supervision and delegation of a MAII, MAIII, and MA IV, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Physician (Provider) within PHMG. The Medical Assistant in training provides care in partnership with the patient and their family, with the goal of supporting an optimal healing community. What You Will Need:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Enrolled in an accredited Medical Assistant program
