M-F Requirements: 2 years experience required | -Graduate or a
student in a program accredited by an agency recognized by the
Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), United States
Department of Education (USDOE) or Canadian Medical Association
(CMA), that specifically conducts programmatic accreditation for
diagnostic medical sonography/diagnostic cardiac
sonography/vascular technology | -American Heart Association (AHA)
Basic Life support for the Healthcare provider (BLS) or an American
Heart Association (AHA) approved equivalent is required. -Newly
hired, experienced sonographers must be registry eligible through
the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers).
-Sonographers will be required to be registered in Abdomen (AB),

Midwest and the nation. Job Summary: -Position requires knowledge
of imaging techniques for all areas of ultrasound: OB/GYN,
Abdominal, Small Parts, Breast (site specific) Vascular, OR and
Procedure in accordance with ACR guidelines and department specific
policies. -Assists with providing 24/7 coverage of the Ultrasound
Service with rotating Saturdays, holidays and call coverage.
-Performs other duties as assigned. -Performs sonographic
examination according to department standards and protocols using
sound ergonomics to prevent injury. -Produces high quality images
and ensures that all images are appropriately labeled and
identified. -Recognizes normal anatomy and physiology, normal
variations and pathology and adjusts imaging processes as needed to
demonstrate all. -Analyzes physician orders and patient history to
ensure correlation between patient history and exam to be
administered. -Contributes technical and professional knowledge to
the interpreting physician. -Able to work with other departments
and modalities for appropriate scheduling and throughput of exams
(Specifically floor nurses, radiology and centralized scheduling).
-Provides sonography service at all necessary locations, working
variable shifts, weekends, and provides emergent call coverage as
scheduled. -Demonstrates proficiency and knowledge of the
EPIC/Radiant and PACS information systems. -Maintain equipment in
working order, making minor adjustments and repairs. -Performs
routine cleaning, preventive maintenance and reports any equipment
malfunction of issue to sonographer lead or manager. -Prepares
patients for exam by providing a clear explanation of the
procedures and answering questions using the AIDET technique.
-Consistently assists in the transfer and positions of patients
prior to and after patient imaging. -Provides assistance to
radiologists and other medical staff during performance of
interventional, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures requiring
ultrasound guidance. -Practices infection control and sterile
techniques; remains current of any changes or updates. -Verifies,
collects, documents and hands off lab specimens. -All information
is complete and accurate at the time it is submitted correctly but
may need and leader follow up including; online incident reports,
progress notes, ED hand-off notes, MD orders when needed, consent
forms, etc. -Effectively uses downtime to seek out peers who need
assistance. -Routinely offers to help others in the performance of
their duties. -Effectively communicates all information to provide
a seamless patient care experience. -Helps by assisting with
answering phones, scheduling patients, coordinating inpatients, and
providing instruction to medical staff and patients. -Failure to
meet requirement within specified time frame will result in
dismissal. null Required Skills & Experience: -Candidate must be
proficient with ultrasound equipment and have basic knowledge of
patient care equipment. Preferred Skills & Experience: -One year of
current clinical experience. -Substantial training and current
clinical experience with ARDMS registry will be accepted.
-Familiarity with McKesson PACS, Epic EMR. null Required Education:
-Graduate or a student in a program accredited by an agency

Medical Association (CMA), that specifically conducts programmatic
accreditation for diagnostic medical sonography/diagnostic cardiac
sonography/vascular technology. Preferred Education: -Associate or
Bachelor’s degree in Ultrasound/Sonography. Required Certifications
& Licensure: -American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life support
for the Healthcare provider (BLS) or an American Heart Association
(AHA) approved equivalent is required. -Newly hired, experienced
sonographers must be registry eligible through the ARDMS (American
Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers). -Sonographers will be
required to be registered in Abdomen (AB), OB/GYN (OB) and Vascular
(VT). Each registry not obtained at the time hire will need to be
completed every 9 months until all registries are complete.
