Part Time no Benefits FTE: 0.40 Cardiac Device Nurse position is responsible for coordinating and maintaining patient care in the Cardiac Device patients. You will be assisting device technical staff by maintaining daily clinic visits, providing cardiac device RN care management. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Responsible for completing a focused functional health assessment, including physical, psychological, cultural, and social components, to diagnose patient problems, identify outcomes, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. 2. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team through Relationship-Based Care, to support a healthy work environment and ensure a culture of safety. 3. Through the Nursing Care Delivery Model, provides direct care and delegates aspects of care to other members of the health care team consistent with their level of preparation (licensure/ credentials/ certifications) and job description utilizing time and resources effectively. 4. Responsible for applying the scope of nursing practice defined in the standards of practice and the standards of professional performance. 5. Participates in shared governance, collectively working toward a common goal, through clinical practice, education, research, performance improvement, professional and satisfaction activities. 6. Interrogates the device and analyzes, and interprets data from Implanted Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICD) and recommends appropriate medical therapy to medical staff. 7. Conducts a variety of device tests to trouble shoot function/malfunction of multiple different implantable devices in many settings including clinics, hospitals and outreach sites. 8. Performs, understands and interprets non-invasive electrophysiology studies, inductions of ventricular fibrillation testing, AV optimizations, V-V optimizations and cardioversions. 9. Collects, investigates, analyzes and interprets data as he/she extracts it from any and all pacemaker devices and then presents information with recommendations to Electrophysiologists, Cardiologists, surgeons and other physicians. 10. Evaluates the functioning and effectiveness of Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) devices. 11. Analyzes Implanted Loop Recorders (IRL) with a complete understanding of waveforms and the knowledge to differentiate artifact and device anomalies from actual events that will provide accurate interpretation of arrhythmias and appropriate patient treatment. 12. Optimizes the function and effectiveness of each device for the enhanced benefit of the patient. 13. Monitor and evaluate multiple different models of pacemakers and models of Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators. 14. Analyze and recommend the clinically best product at the most appropriate cost for CentraCare Heart & Vascular Center. 15. Coordinates, implements, evaluates, recruits and enrolls subjects in clinical device research. 16. Completes data collection, file case report forms, sends and communicates collected data to the sponsor, IRB, and collaborates with sponsors throughout the study i.e. audits, version updated, quarterly reports etc. 17. Teaches and counsels patients and their families about the device capabilities and its impact on their well being, post- operatively and in an ongoing manner through device follow-up.
