System Float provides an exciting opportunity to interact with a variety of staff members and patients throughout the hospital division. Specialty units may include Medical, Surgical, Ortho-Neuro, Observation, Women's & Children's, Heart Care, Oncology, Intensive Care, and Behavioral Health. The multitude of units available frequently offers staff a refreshing change in atmosphere. System Float allows staff to expand their knowledge base and continuously advance their practice. Hours: Combination of 8 and 12 hours day shift (7-1530 and 7-1830), every third weekend, holiday rotation, may be scheduled at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital. Full Time / Part Time: Part Time with Benefits FTE: 0.60 Communicate changes in patient situations/conditions that would require notification to the RN. Assists with patient activities as delegated by the RN including activities of daily living (i.e. dressing, ambulating, toileting, eating, grooming, oral care and bathing.)Follows wound and skin care protocols to prevent skin breakdown and development of pressure ulcers. Observes and reports the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdowns to the RN and assists in carrying out plans to decrease pressure and skin breakdowns such as frequent repositioning. Observes for patient fall risk factors and communicates with RN for application of fall prevention strategies. Oversees fall prevention strategies for patients who have been identified as at risk. Performs safety rounding on each patient using department standards. Protects patient safety by visually observing patients via a Remote Visual Monitoring System, or by direct observation. Minimum interaction with the patient must include conversation about their need for toileting, positioning, pain control, and possessions. Utilizes the pain scale when performing rounding and as needed. Reports all verbal or non-verbal pain behaviors to the RN. Under the direction of the RN offers non-pharmacological pain intervention to assist with patient comfort. Obtains pertinent data pertaining to the patient as delegated (i.e. blood pressure, pulse, pulse ox, temperature, input and output), accurately documents care provided and notifies RN of outcomes in a timely manner.
