looking to fill an EDI Engineer role. The EDI Engineer needs to be
able to plan, create, analyze, and implement electronic data
interchange (EDI) systems and supporting processes. They ensure
these systems are working properly to enable the efficient exchange
of information with trading partners. They will implement, test,
and certify new trading partners. They also assess the business
needs and challenges and identify ways to optimize these systems to
best serve those purposes. They are also responsible for testing,
maintenance, and troubleshooting, and provide tech support along
with additional IT duties. Educational Qualification of an EDI
Engineer The EDI Engineer must have sound knowledge about technical
as well as electronic data interchange. The basic qualification
required for an EDI Engineer is a bachelor's degree in management
information system, information technology, or computer science.
Along with the bachelor's degree, the candidate must also be
experienced with professional technical knowledge with at least 5
years’ experience as an EDI Engineer. Key Skills of an EDI Engineer
The EDI Engineer must have good understanding and expert
communicational skills. Along with this, he or she must also
possess the following skills: Expert verbal as well as written
communication skills Expert interpersonal skills Ability to
understand client needs Expert understanding of various business
practices Ability to relate or explain technical information to
non-industry personnel Knowledge of True Commerce/SPS
Commerce/CommerceHub and Microsoft Dynamics NAV/BC software
Excellent time management skills Requirements: Demonstrate in-depth
knowledge and hands-on experience with EDI X12 standards, including
but not limited to 850 (Purchase Order), 810 (Invoice), 856
(Advance Ship Notice), 855 (Order Acknowledgment), 812
(Credit/Debit Adjustment), 820 (Payment Remit) and 997 (Functional
Acknowledgment). Experience and good Understanding of communication
protocols (AS2, FTP, SFTP, VAN, WebSphere MQ) Collaborate with
internal teams, customers, and vendors to establish, maintain, and
troubleshoot EDI connections, ensuring data integrity and
compliance with trading partner requirements. Design, develop, and
implement EDI maps, ensuring proper translation of data formats
between different systems and trading partners. Conduct rigorous
testing and validation of EDI transactions to ensure accuracy,
compliance, and adherence to business rules and regulatory
standards. Daily Processing of EDI file Daily review of EDI
transactions and resolution of transactions containing errors or
failures and resolving issues quickly. Communicate daily with
customer service and trading partners regarding integrated orders
that may have issues, or questions related to set up or processing
Provide timely updates and requested details for ongoing projects.
Provide training and documentation as needed to customer service,
sales and trading partner Openly provide feedback to management on
ways to improve service, processes and efficiency. Provide support
for Integrated E-commerce processes and tasks as assigned. Prepare
and maintain the database for the electronic data interchange
Undertake security procedures for the safety of EDI Coordinate with
the employees of the IT staff and ensure the maintenance of the EDI
system Maintain comprehensive documentation of EDI processes,
configurations, mappings, and protocols, ensuring clarity,
consistency, and ease of reference for stakeholders.
