your strengths The Purchasing & Inventory Specialist is responsible
for purchasing materials and services, maintaining accurate
inventory records, and supporting manufacturing operations through
effective order management and vendor coordination. This role
ensures materials are available when needed, inventory levels are
accurate, and purchasing activities align with production schedules
and company policies. Key Responsibilities Purchasing & Order
Management Create, review, and process purchase orders for
materials and services in accordance with company policies and
operational requirements Verify pricing, quantities, and lead times
prior to issuing purchase orders Monitor and maintain open purchase
orders to ensure timely delivery and fulfillment Vendor
Communication & Follow-Up Serve as the primary point of contact for
vendors regarding order status, shipping details, and delivery
schedules Communicate effectively to resolve order discrepancies,
pricing issues, shortages, or delays Build and maintain strong
vendor relationships to support reliable supply Inventory
Management & Coordination Collaborate with warehouse and production
teams to align purchasing activity with inventory levels and
production needs Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits as
required Receiving Reconciliation Partner with Accounts Payable to
resolve discrepancies related to pricing, quantities, or
documentation Review and reconcile purchase orders with receiving
documentation to ensure accuracy Compliance & Documentation Ensure
all purchasing and inventory activities comply with company
procurement policies, ethical standards, and applicable regulations
Maintain proper documentation for audit, reporting, and compliance
purposes Reporting & Continuous Improvement Generate reports
related to purchasing activity, inventory levels, and vendor
performance Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes,
inventory accuracy, and material availability Cross-Functional
Collaboration Work closely with procurement, production, finance,
sales and operations teams to support efficient material flow and
operational success Requirements: Education High school diploma or
GED required Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply
Chain Management, or a related field preferred Experience Prior
experience in purchasing, inventory control, or supply chain
support—preferably in a manufacturing environment Experience
working with vendors and ERP systems Required Skills & Competencies
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Proficiency in
Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Experience with inventory
management systems Strong written and verbal communication skills
Problem-solving ability to resolve purchasing and inventory
discrepancies Basic understanding of inventory control and material
flow Additional Qualities Ability to manage multiple priorities and
deadlines in a fast-paced environment Self-directed with a strong
sense of accountability Customer-service oriented with a
collaborative mindset Proactive and adaptable to changing
operational need
