Public Sector Account Manager-Waukesha, WI - SAL021630

The Public Sector Account Manager will act as a resource for all things government sales delivering innovative solutions to State and Local government agencies. Responsible for provoking, uncovering, cultivating, and assisting in closing sophisticated, coordinated solutions which enable clients to meet their business objectives. Expand sales opportunities through strategic networking, facilitating negotiations, and closing sales.

  • Prepare/maintain sales forecasts and forecast pipeline, account status reports, and make recommendations to enhance account growth and new revenue potential to meet or exceed sales quota.
  • Seek out new growth opportunities and generate new sales leads in the government space
  • Develop and provide expertise for all offerings, products, and services applicable
  • Identify and qualify opportunities and strategically engage internal and external support partners to position business solutions that will add value within the government space
  • Lead discussions for renewals and participate in contract discussions for new products and services, all with a focus on profitable sales
  • Handle the contract lifecycle, resolve contract disputes, and answer basic and sophisticated capabilities questions.
  • Articulate client business value with consultative selling approaches, through proposals and oral presentations.
  • Build a strong network within the communities we serve in order to enhance U.S. Cellular's brand and identify new business customer prospects.


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 2 or more years' experience of successful B2B sales
  • Demonstrated track record of exceeding quotas
  • Metrics-driven sales "hunter" with a professional demeanor, outstanding integrity, and high sense of urgency
  • Experience in sales account management practices
  • Proven experience of integrated solutions sales success
  • Ability to operate independently to build a successful sales pipeline/channel, but also collaborate with and engage colleagues and vendors when appropriate
  • Experience with customer business case development based on TCO/Return on Investment techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and balance contending demands and priorities
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to travel 50-70%


  • 3 to 5 years' experience in B2B sales
  • Experience in Government (Local and State) account sales
  • Experience concentrated in wireless sales
  • Experience in wireless, software, IT or related telecommunications industry
