Description

Requires current Lifeguard Certification including CPR/AED/First Aid. American Red Cross, YMCA or Ellis Certification acceptable. Must be 16 years old by June 11, 2021. Screening/Interview process includes a written assessment, water skills assessment and interview with Park System Aquatic Staff.

The Waukesha County Park System Lifeguards are staffed at two locations:

Fox Brook Park in Brookfield

Menomonee Park ("Lannon Quarry") in Lannon/Menomonee Falls.

Staff Pre-Season Training and Orientation begins Wednesday, May 26th.

Lifeguard Staffing hours are as follows:

Fox Brook Park - Monday through Friday 10am-5pm, Sat/Sun 10am-7pm, staffing starts June 5th*

Menomonee Park - Monday through Friday 11am-5pm, Sat/Sun 10am-7pm, staffing starts June 12th*

* Additional hours expected for mandatory in-service training sessions before and after each beach hours.

Example of Duties

* Effectively convey rules and expectations to beach patrons consistent with County policies and procedures and positively reinforce behaviors. * Be prepared to react in an emergency situation and become familiar with emergency action plans. * Attend all in-service training programs and be aware of all facility policies and procedures. * Inspect beach are prior to and after the completion of patron use to minimize and eliminate hazards. * Ensure all emergency equipment is readily available and the beach are is safe. * Complete required reports and records as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

* Lifeguard Training Certification required, including CPR-Pro and AED (if you are currently enrolled in class, we will accept application but you must provide your class and Instructor name). * Must be 16 years old by June 11, 2021. * Good customer service skills. * Ability to use good judgment and to respond quickly. * Ability to work well as a team and maintain a good working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, other County Park personnel and the public. * Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions. * Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations.

Available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, and up to 40 hours per week if desired, varying shifts including weekends. Supplemental Information

If positions are not filled by applicants whom are already Lifeguard Certified, the Park System will consider offering a free lifeguard certification course prior to the start of the season for any interested candidates that are not certified. Candidates must meet minimum swimming requirements and have the appropriate availability to be eligible for the free training (if offered).
