As a Sr. Systems Engineer, you will design, develop, and deliver complex state-of-the-art systems across a variety of disciplines for CES. This role will support the execution of embedded controls development projects, working with the hardware, software, system integration, validation/verification test functions.

This position reports to Sr. Engineering Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute model-in-the-loop simulations to verify control behavior and performance.
  • Create Automated Test System to validate and verify product performance and functionality
  • Support system and sub-system level integration testing to insure control system behavior meets functional and non-functional requirements. Review and analyze system test data
  • Work with software development teams to integrate model-generated software into application software
  • Adhere to model development standards and processes
  • Collaborate with product management, design engineering and system integration teams
  • Drive project execution and achieve project milestones
  • Create documentations and presentation that help support findings and design improvements from Model base simulation and Hardware in Loop testing
  • Perform root cause analysis and develop solutions for issues identified during the development process, manufacturing process and/or field
  • Participate in Risk Assessments, FMEA/DFMEA and Design Reviews
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in Hardware in Loop Test System for automated product validation and regression testing
  • Experience in Developing controller models using Matlab/Simulink or similar tools for system level control algorithms and logic that provide superior performance, enhance reliability and diagnostics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics, or related discipline.
  • Experience with renewable energy products.
  • Experience in clean energy systems, battery storage systems, or industrial electronic control systems and assemblies.
  • Experience with reviewing circuit board schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Experience with embedded microcontrollers such as Microchip PIC microcontrollers
  • Experience with FPGA such as Xilinx, Altera, Lattice, etc.
  • Experience in VHDL/Verilog programming languages
  • Experience with programming and debugging tools
  • Experience creating PC based testing tools using visual basic, C# or similar
  • Knowledge of control systems using PID loops
  • Knowledge of UL 1741, UL 1998, UL 9540
  • Communication protocol/ hardware interface knowledge, such as RS232, RS485, CAN, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, Flash, EEPROM, ADC/DAC, WiFi
  • Experience with Agile software development practices and tools

  • Ability to apply engineering knowledge and experience to improve products, services and processes
  • Ability to solve complex engineering problems
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • MS Excel, MS Word
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Experience with machine design

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel may be required.
